Getting Started

Q

What is RIVET?

RIVET is a construction payment management platform for subcontractors. It handles AIA G702/G703 billing, lien waivers, retainage tracking, and integrates with accounting software like QuickBooks Online and Xero.

Who is RIVET for?

RIVET is designed for subcontractors in commercial construction who bill using AIA payment applications. It's especially valuable for electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and specialty contractors on projects with retainage.

Is there a free trial?

Yes, all plans include a 14-day free trial with full access to features. No credit card required to start.

Q

Does RIVET work with QuickBooks Desktop?

Currently, RIVET integrates with QuickBooks Online only. QuickBooks Desktop is not supported at this time.

Billing & Pay Apps

Q

What AIA forms does RIVET generate?

RIVET generates AIA G702 (Application and Certificate for Payment) and G703 (Continuation Sheet). Both are produced in standard AIA format accepted by GCs nationwide.

Can I customize the pay app forms?

The AIA format is standardized, but you can customize headers with your company logo and adjust some display options. Pro and Scale plans include additional template customization.

Can I export pay apps to Excel?

Yes, pay applications can be downloaded as PDF or exported to Excel format for GCs who prefer spreadsheets.

Q

Can I have multiple open billing periods?

Each project has one active billing period at a time. When you create a new pay app, the previous period's data carries forward automatically.

Retainage

Q

What retainage rates does RIVET support?

RIVET supports any retainage percentage, including different rates for work vs. materials, and reduced retainage after reaching milestones (like 50% completion).

How does RIVET track retainage?

RIVET automatically calculates retainage on each pay application, tracks cumulative retainage held, and generates proper accounting entries when syncing to QuickBooks or Xero.

Lien Waivers

Q

What states are supported for lien waivers?

RIVET generates compliant lien waivers for all 50 states. States with statutory forms (California, Texas, Arizona, etc.) use the exact required language.

Q

What types of waivers can I generate?

All four standard types: Conditional Progress, Unconditional Progress, Conditional Final, and Unconditional Final.

Q

Does RIVET support electronic signatures?

Yes, you can sign waivers electronically within RIVET. Check your state's requirements for e-signature acceptability.

Integrations

What accounting software does RIVET integrate with?

RIVET integrates with QuickBooks Online and Xero (Pro and Scale plans). The integration syncs invoices, retainage journal entries, and customers.

How often does data sync?

Data syncs automatically when you approve pay applications or record payments. You can also trigger manual syncs at any time.

Do you integrate with other software?

Scale plan includes API access for custom integrations. We're continuously adding new integrations based on customer needs.

Team & Access

Q

What user roles are available?

RIVET has four roles: Owner (full access including billing), Manager (full project access), Staff (create and edit), and Viewer (read-only).

Can I belong to multiple firms?

Yes, a single user account can be a member of multiple firms, each with its own projects and settings.

Q

How do I remove a team member?

Go to Settings → Team Members, find the user, and click Deactivate. Deactivated users lose access immediately but their history is preserved.

Pricing & Billing

Q

What plans are available?

Three plans: Starter ($79/mo), Pro ($149/mo), and Scale ($249/mo). Annual billing saves 20%. See Subscription Plans for details.

Q

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes, you can cancel at any time. Service continues until the end of your current billing period. No refunds for unused time.

Q

Can I upgrade or downgrade?

Yes, you can change plans at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately with pro-rated billing. Downgrades take effect at the next billing period.

Data & Security

Q

Is my data safe?

Yes, RIVET uses industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest. We're hosted on secure cloud infrastructure with regular backups and monitoring.

Q

Can I export my data?

Yes, you can export projects, pay applications, and other data at any time. Go to Settings → Data Export.

Q

What happens to my data if I cancel?

Data is retained for 90 days after cancellation, during which you can reactivate or request a data export. After 90 days, data is deleted.

How do I get help?

Email support is available for all plans at support@slpwlk.io. Pro gets priority email response. Scale includes priority support and a dedicated success manager.

What's the response time?

Standard support: Within 24 business hours. Priority support (Pro/Scale): Within 4 business hours.
